![]() Newsletter10 July 2025 UKSPF Grants Now Open: Apply Today for Community Transport or Sports Club FundingDo you run a local group, community organisation or sports club in Herefordshire? Two new grant schemes are now open, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), offering support for projects that improve wellbeing, inclusion, and local access.The Community Transport Grant Scheme offers support to local transport projects that help people access services, reduce isolation and stay connected, especially in rural areas. Grants range from £500 to £5,000, with bursaries of up to £1,000 also available to help residents in transport poverty.The Sports Club Development Grant Scheme offers grants of £500 to £5,000 to support grassroots clubs and community groups that want to expand access to sport, grow participation, build volunteer capacity, and improve health and wellbeing across Herefordshire.Both schemes are revenue-only and focused on making a real difference to people’s lives and community wellbeing. Wellbeing walks across Herefordshire The Healthy Lifestyle team have had a busy start to the year! Working alongside the Ramblers, they have been training walk leaders and developing new routes, to establish a network of weekly wellbeing walks.Thanks to their hard work and the commitment of a valued group of trained volunteers, there are now 8 weekly wellbeing walks taking place in Herefordshire. The short walks offer an opportunity to connect with your local community, as well as stay fit and healthy. The walks are easily accessible, low level and not too long in distance so there should be a walk for everyone (sounds good).Explore the weekly wellbeing walks on the Talk Community Directory – in Thruxton, Leominster (Town route) and Leominster (Grange Court route), Bromyard, Ledbury, Hereford, Colwall and Ross on Wye. If you work with children and young people and would like to find out about the support on offer, Kooth are offering a series of webinars over the summer.The webinars will provide a clear overview of the services on offer, and how those services can help young people to access free, safe and anonymous support.The webinars are scheduled to place on the following dates:23rd July 12pm8th August 10am19th August 4:30pmYou can sign up to the webinars on this google form. ![]() Free family activities at Herefordshire Libraries Herefordshire Libraries have a packed programme of child and family friendly events taking place this summer. You’ll be sure to banish any school holiday boredom with what’s on offer! There’s a nature inspired ‘Summer Reading Challenge’ and the programme is blooming with books, crafts, events, performances and workshops. Families can enjoy printmaking, vinyl graffiti, illustration workshops, storytime and more. The good news is that it’s all free to attend and activities take place at venues around the county!Find out what’s happening at your local library and get up to speed with other events and activities on the Talk Community Directory. ![]() Here for Herefordshire Holidays programmeThe Here for Herefordshire Holidays programme offers fully funded activities for school-aged children and young people (from Reception to Year 11) who receive benefits-related free school meals.Bookings have been busy since registration opened last week, and eligible families are encouraged to book their places soon for the summer programme, which runs from 28th July to 22nd August.From sports and crafts to outdoor fun and hot meals, it’s a great way to stay active, social and supported during the holidays.If your family is eligible, or you know someone who is, please spread the word and visit the Talk Community Directory to find out more. ![]() FREE Domestic Abuse awareness training opportunity (#Cut it Out)Herefordshire Community Safety Partnership are working with Martin Lakeman (Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding Consultant) to offer free training to public facing professionals across Herefordshire. The #Cut it Out initiative aims to raise awareness of the devastating impact of domestic abuse and is offering free training to professionals who have a unique, one on one, trusting relationship with clients, such as hairdressers, tattooists and beauty professionals. If you have one to one contact with members of the public then this training could be for you.There are training sessions scheduled to take place in Hereford, with more sessions due to be added for Leominster and Ledbury.
