Help with the cost of living: Crisis and Resilience Fund
The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) is available to support residents in Herefordshire who are struggling with the cost of living or facing unexpected financial difficulties.
The CRF offers practical support at times of crisis, such as help with food, energy costs or other essential household needs. It’s also designed to support people longer term, helping build financial confidence and stability through access to advice, guidance and local services.
In Herefordshire, support is available through a range of options, including:
- Crisis payments for urgent or unexpected situations
- Housing support, such as help with rent or deposits
- Support for heating oil and LPG costs
- Access to advice and services to improve financial resilience
We know many people who could benefit from this support may not be aware it exists. As trusted local partners, you play a key role in helping residents access the help they need. We’d encourage you to share this information through your networks, signpost individuals who may be struggling and use this support as part of your wider conversations with residents

Funding opportunity: Nature and Biodiversity Community Grant
A new funding opportunity is available for local groups looking to make a positive impact on Herefordshire’s natural environment.
The Nature and Biodiversity Community Grant Scheme supports projects that protect and enhance local wildlife, habitats and green spaces. Grants are available from £500 up to £10,000, with applications of up to £35,000 considered where significant benefits can be demonstrated.
Funding can support a wide range of projects, from planting schemes and habitat creation to community nature spaces and environmental improvements that bring people together.
The programme is open to community groups, charities, schools and parish councils, and we’d encourage partners to share this opportunity with any organisations or groups who may benefit.
The deadline for applications is midnight on 31 August 2026.

Celebrate Volunteers’ Week: promote your opportunities
This Volunteers’ Week, we’re encouraging partners across Herefordshire to connect with people who are ready to give their time and make a difference.
Our Herefordshire Volunteering Academy allows you to reach a wide local audience and showcase the voluntary roles you offer for free. The platform also provides access to free training and events, helping you build confidence and skills in areas such as volunteer management, safeguarding and engagement. Alongside this, it offers a chance to connect with other local organisations, share good practice and work together to strengthen community support across the county.
We’d encourage all partners to take part in Volunteers’ Week by promoting your opportunities, celebrating your volunteers and helping more people across Herefordshire get involved. Find out more about the Herefordshire Volunteering Academy and get started on the Talk Community Directory.

Find Funding at Your Fingertips
The Talk Community Grant Finder tool is a one stop shop for funding information, providing regularly updated funding opportunities. It enables you to browse the different grants which are available, whether you are a charity, social enterprise, community group or parish council, offering access to thousands of funds available on a European, national and regional basis.
The good news is that it is completely free to sign up to! So if you have a specific project in mind, you can search for those funding opportunities which may be most relevant to you and once you are signed up, you can receive updates of new funding opportunities.

Help share a vital update from Papyrus
We’re asking partners to help spread the word about an important update from Papyrus, the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide in young people.
Papyrus has recently launched a new look and feel, alongside a redesigned website, to make it easier for young people to access support when they need it most. As part of this update, HopeLineUK has a new phone number:
0300 102 2470
The service itself remains the same, providing confidential, non‑judgemental support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to young people who may be struggling, as well as to anyone worried about a young person. This is a vital service, and awareness is key. We’d encourage all partners to update any existing materials and share the new number widely across your networks to help ensure young people know where to turn when they need support.

Carers Week 2026
This year Carers Week takes place from Monday 8th June – Sunday 14th June.
It is an annual campaign which highlights the challenges faced by unpaid carers and recognises the enormous contribution they make to individuals and communities.
Carers Week also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
If you would like to find out more about looking after someone in Herefordshire then please visit our carers webpage.

Reminder – Newsletter Update
Our Talk Community newsletter will continue to focus on information for community organisations, hubs, leaders and services, including funding opportunities, training, national campaigns and sector updates. To better reflect this focus, Talk Community has moved from a weekly to a monthly newsletter.
Alongside this, we’ve launched a new public‑facing newsletter called Spread the Word! Spread the Word will also be monthly and is designed for a wider audience. It will share local news, community events, opportunities to get involved and positive stories from across our communities.
If you work with residents or community members who might enjoy hearing about local events and good news, please help us to spread the word – sign up here.
